Replacing '98 986 stock washer headlights with upgraded non-washer headlights!

Hi guys and girls,

I have a 1998 986 with the original clear and amber headlights including the headlight washer system. My question is: Can I, and if yes, how do I upgrade to the below linked headlights, WITHOUT A WASHER SYSTEM?

Thanks in advance for any help.

1. Buy
2. Install
3. Enjoy

1. Buy
2. Place in garbage receptacle since that's what they are.

On second thought, skip step one.

Are you saying that these headlights aren't well made or worth buying?

My main query is whether I can DELETE the headlight washer nozzles so I can fit new clear headlights without the washer nozzle holes?

Thanks

Yes, you can ditch the washers.
Yes, the headlights in the link are junk. ;)

Just buy new corner pieces without the holes. Remove or secure washer nozzles under cover and pull fuse. Done

Don't even need new corner pieces, those replacement ones don't have corner pieces... you'd just move/ziptie the washer jets down out of the way and put in the new headlights.

But yeah, there's a few threads on here and elsewhere where some people have had issues with those replacement ones... they are pretty cheaply 'made in china' (despite the price being more than genuine OEM ones!) , the overheat and they let in water through the extra venting that's been added to keep them cool, the led's go and can't be replaced etc.

Ok, great help, thank you all. So the washers are not an issue, I will look for some "pre loved" original clear lights on ebay etc.

I have found a pair for a steal but they are a little scratched. Any tips on getting scratched out?

If that's not too big a deal then I will order.

Thanks

If the scratching isn’t too severe, increasing grits of sandpaper and then plastic polish and a UV coat would handle that.
