New to me 2001 Boxster S
Hey all, need some advice from the gang.
I bought a nonrunning 2001 Boxster S that hadn't seen daylight in a few years. I didn't even know milage.... I had my mechanic (specializes in BMW>Porsche, owns a 911) take a look and $1300 later it's on the road. Mechanic said the engine compartment was clean and looked like the car had been taken car of before it was put out to pasture. Already love driving it, but need to figure out what I need to do to keep it sound. So far, my mechanic has replaced the battery, oil, coolant, replaced filters, did a full tune up. I don't see any electrical issues, everything is working as far as I can tell. I will need to have the alignment done, based on the drive at highway speeds. What should I prioritize? I'll do the tires next summer, as they look great after getting the dust off (already replaced 2 sets of tires this summer...).http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1537676890.jpg |
Looks nice, welcome to the forum

Some of what you need to do should depend on the mileage but you said you don't know the mileage. Why is that, is the gauge cluster not working? Odometer not working? Or do you just not trust whatever it says? What does it say, if it's working?

I would be very careful with those tires. Even though they may look good, if they are more than 4 years old, they are not going to give you the grip needed for a high performance car. I would replace the tires then get the alignment. Nice looking Boxster, enjoy!
