Driving 986 Without Instrument Cluster

Maybe a crazy question, but aside from the obvious lack of insight into the engines operating parameters, is there any reason not to drive the car without the cluster installed? I need to get the car out for some exercise, and put fresh fuel with conditioner in it, and have a suspicion I'm a few weeks out on finding what happened to my cluster. I just don't want to ruin the electrical system if something routes through the cluster that will blow up without it connected.
