Electrical issues

Hello to you all.

I recently purchased a Boxter 986 (97) and everything seems to be working fine until recently. Firstly the electric roof is intermittent - sometimes it will go down and up and hen after driving it won’t respond. Also - when I lock the car or take the key out of the ignition the clock on the gauge console flashes to be reset - this then requires me to reinsert the key and turn in order to set. If I don’t do this then the battery drains if left.

My electric windows, radio, lights etc all work perfectly it is just these two issues. They clock one being the most puzzling. Any assistance very welcome.

Many thanks

I would start by replacing the battery.

Battery now chanfed

The battery change has done the trick with the clock issue but my roof is still intermittent. When I unlatch the roof the windows drop as normal but the retract button will not operate the roof 9times out of 10. The handbrake is on and so is the hand brake light etc. Any ideas?

Thanks

I'd suspect the roof switch next. If you're lucky you may just have a poor contact at the plug or in the switch. Try unplugging the connector on the back of the switch and then reconnect it. If you have a volt meter you could also test the switch for continunity when pressed.
