Missing frunk stickers

Hello to all,
I have not posted in a couple of years. I sold both my previous Porsche’s but now back in the market for another. I have a question for the affectionados of this wonderful forum. I have looked at several Boxsters recently and a few are missing the options sticker from under the frunk. Some I’ve looked at are on line and some in person. The question is, does this mean that it was in a frontal accident or was resprayed at some point? Did all years of boxsters leave the factory with this sticker? It makes me nervous when this is missing and the Carfax shows not accidents.

Thanks in advance for any answers.

Every 986 should have an options sticker, and I can't imagine anyone removing it. It most likely means the hood was replaced or resprayed, but it could also be from upgrading to a carbon fiber hood.

A couple I looked at were 987 models. Should all have stickers.

Well my frunk hood was replaced last year and I found a guy on Rennlist who's in Spain and makes a very nice reproduction option sticker that I bought and installed. On the 986 there are also 2 other dark background stickers under the frunk hood, one is a caution label and the other is A/C information. If those are missing too then I'd say the hood was definitely replaced. But I bought replacements for those two stickers from Porsche as well. See this thread from when I replaced them. Having the stickers in place isn't a guarantee that the hood wasn't replaced! And Carfax may not have accident repair information if the work wasn't paid for by insurance coverage.

From what I've been told, 987s may not have them there (check owner's manual). Example is that my mom's '06 does not.

Check to see if anywhere on the hood there is a "DOT R" designation, if you find that it means it is a replacement part.

I had the same question as you when I was looking at a couple of 987's locally. Neither had the option sticker in trunk. From a forum search, I was located to look in the owners manual. Sure enough, there it was!

Our 2009 987.2S does not have a sticker either.
