side and rear view

Can you post side/rear shots of your car.

Looks awesome! I want to do the hardtop, once I figure out my engine issues.

Vent looks nice the red makes it all blend in nicely.

rfuerst911sc 07-25-2018 03:49 AM

I'm assuming this thread is because you added the center vent in the front bumper cover ? If that is correct can you go into more detail on vent part # and who you purchased it from ? And any in process install pics ? I think it looks good .

Seadweller 07-25-2018 04:29 AM

What wheels are those?

I bought off of eBay but I paid $69 because I bought on impulse. It's a factory Porsche part that can be bought from any dealer for around $45🙄
No pics but its pretty straightforward. Use the vent it self as a template. Hold it where you want it, trace around it, drill holes around inside edge and cut. You don't even need to remove the bumper. There is nothing under there. I know scary 😲
It isn't attached and doesn't have the black mean behind it yet. That should improve the look some.

They are Carrera II Lights. Finest wheel you can get on a Boxster. But then again I am biased.

Can you elaborate on what " It isn't attached and doesn't have the black mean behind it yet. That should improve the look some. " means ? Thanks

Looking good. Cutting and drilling holes in my car was (maybe) a little scary in the beginning...not anymore (especially after dealing with a z-top) :D

Sorry, the vent is not attached yet, just laying in the hole. It also doesn't have the black mesh screen behind it yet. Oh and the bumper is just stuck on there too. Waiting for the screens

Took a drive, nothing blew off so I'm done for now. 😀 http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1532568191.jpg

Can you snap a pic standing over the front bumper vent ? I want to see how close it fits to the headlights on the ends and how close is it to the front edge of the hood . Thanks

JBauer 07-28-2018 03:18 PM

I've got it apart putting mesh behind it. When I get it back together, tomorrow Ill take a pic and post it.

I went ahead and stuck it on for a pic for you. I'm hold in it alitte crooked 🙄 but you see why it needs the mesh. I'll post a finished pic tomorrow screwed on with mesh.

That is a tight fit where the ends meet the outline of the headlight , did you have to trim the ends of the vent or did they " just fit " ? The screen sure helps hide what is underneath . The 997 hood must have a smaller radius to it as the vent follows the hood edge line much closer than in your pics . But your color hides that quite well . In my case I am thinking of leaving it black , against my Arctic Silver that hood fit may stand out too much . Will have to think this over . Thank you for the follow up pics .

I trimmed probably 1/2 inch off each side. I should of went just a hair more and contoured it flatter at the ends to make it flow together better. May end up doing that. The mesh I used was really flimsy. I think I'm going to get the thicker plastic mesh.

rfuerst911sc 09-18-2019 05:46 AM

JB your post is a year ago any update on the GT3 front vent ? I am thinking about getting one for my Boxster GT3 clone :D How did you end up doing the final attachment ? Is there an OEM kit with clips and screws ? Did you end up adding a black mesh ? Any pics looking straight down at the vent ?
