Holes below headlights??

I own a 2000 Porsche Boxster S(986) and there are holes(oblong cutouts not round) beneath each headlight. What are these holes for?? I do not have headlight wipers or spray washers. Are they supposed to be there??

If you don't have washers (AFAIK, there aren't any wipers), your headlights should look like this:

There should be a triangular reflector on the outside corner. Not sure what would leave an oblong hole though...

Your front bumper may not be installed correctly. Perhaps it had been removed at some point to clean the radiators or something. If the bumper wasn't installed right, you will end up some small oval holes under the headlights.

Do the oblong holes look like this?
If so you either used to have washers or you have the wrong corner piece.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1532087684.jpg

That is what it was....the paint shop readjusted the front bumper and the holes are gone. I received it like that for the PO.

I still have the holes below headlights. Am I missing a trim peace??

How does the rest of the headlight fit with the fender. If the headlight fits fine, it looks like your plastic bumper cover isn't all the way seated. Is it the same on both sides? If you don't know when the bumper was last pulled to have the radiators and ducts cleaned out, now would be a good time to do it. Also make sure both your high and low note horns are functioning while you're in there, the bumper cover really needs to be off to change those.

+1 on what Paul said. There is not an additional trim piece. It looks as if you front plastic facia is not seated correctly.

Pull the headlight assembly out and you'll see that your bumper is not seated correctly.

Same holes on both sides under headlights

I have the same hole on both sides. The car was like that when I bought it. Do you have to loosen the bumper to re-seat it?

Yes. You may not need to loosen the sides/underneath, but definitely need to adjust the topside. When you remove the trim around the frunk latch, you'll be able to adjust the cover in/out on top.

Bumper Cover Removal

Yes, those oval holes just below and in front of each headlight are for the headlight spray washers.
