Sounds making me crazy

I have two sounds(noises) im my'01 Base. The first is a clunking from the area of the passenger side rear shock; "shock knock"? The second concerns the AC fans at the radiators. I don't recall them being so embarrasingly loud. I'm ashamed to pull up near pedestrians. I don't remember them being this loud but perhaps "it's just me". TIA for any advice!

With the "shock knock", does it sound more like a rattle when on rough pavement?

Radiator fans are loud when on high.

First noise is probably rear track arms. Check the drop links to the sway bar too. They may be done. These are wear items.

Fan Noises

If the fan sounds makes a flapping noise it is probably foam that lines the fan box. The foam when new and fresh was used for sound insulation !? It can get stuck in the fan blades. It may blow out your vents, if set the fan on high for a while. If not, you must disassemble the box to get it out. :ah:

On the passenger side clunking, I have something like that on my '00 S. I got the car with 14,000 miles on it and it did it then. More than one mechanic has not found anything. It hasn't gotten any worse, and I'm now over 100,000 miles. It's weird. It does not happen all the time. And if anything, it happens more on a light bump, but not a firm one. I'd love to hear what it could be.

FWIW, on my drive home, it of course never happened. But that's the point for mine. Very intermittent. Hard to pinpoint the scenarios it happens.

EXACTLY! The first time I pulled into my small, 1 car garage (rented) with the fans on high I couldn't hear my passenger! LOUD!

The good news is that you know those fans are working!

The "clunk" is a hit and miss thing although it seems to be occuring more often of late. Those fans are really "un-Porsche" like! Thanks for the help.
