Yeah...that's the garage door seal foam rubber stuff. AKA EZ-Lip.
I'm not saying it can't look ok, but it can easily look bad. On eBay for around $12. |

I used the 1.5 in. kit.
I had purchased Joe Toth's duck tail and splitter. Quality products; however, with my ROW M030 suspension I only had about 4in. of clearance with the splitter installed. The splitter was fiberglass, and the entry to the road to my house has a sharp incline and it was always an adventure trying to angle the car just right to avoid scraping. Eventually ended up snow plowing the splitter while driving onto a gravel drive with a slight incline thus destroying the splitter. |
my mistake on the $100 comment, i googled it, clicked on the below link and thought it was the same but it is a different front lip which i believe was a "sport" option on early 996's:

It also has a different shape than your standard garage door seal. I've had it installed about a year now. No degradation or damage to rubber thus far. |

So it's the the rubber garage door seal. You can tell from the profile. I understand that their marketing leads you to believe that it's not without directly saying so, but that's what marketing does.
As long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters. ;) I'm not knocking it...that's just what it is. If you don't get your curves perfect, it looks bad. If you watch their install video, the front piece looks bad. There were 3 or 4 bumps like this one. |
I've installed rubber garage door seals, and I've installed this lip spoiler. Different shape, different product. Easy to get the curves right if you take your time.
It is a matter of personal preference. For me it was either purchase a bumper cover that would accept the $400 Porsche spoiler or spend 49.95 for a product that I find acceptable from an appearance perspective. For my part, I just want the product to represented accurately. |
I'm curious so I ordered one just for the heck of it. If I can't make something decent out of it I'll use it on my garage door. 😀
