Post CPO or No CPO

I'm considering a 2003 or newer Boxster S. How important is getting one that is Certified Pre-Owned vs. one that is not? Or with a remaining warranty?

I have the option of buying from dealer auctions or from dealers. Obviously dealers can offer CPO. And how much of a premium does CPO usually add?

I'm trying to get a sense of how reliable these cars are. How risky is it to not have CPO or warranty? It will be a third car but driven about 75% of the time.

Rick

Yes, even though it's a third car, I suspect I'll drive it most of the time, which is why I explained that. Definitely not going to be just a weekend car.

The problem with evaluating the "value" of a CPO is that this is tied to the risk profile of the buyer. Some folks feel the need to insure against risk, others do not.

The second issue is that you really do not know how much you are paying for your CPO vs the "same car" without the warranty. You just know that you are paying alot more for that car at the Porsche dearer than you would at some other dealer or a private sale.

Lastly, all Porsche dealers are required to bring the car up to "spec" before Porsche will issue the CPO. That is worth something but how much, who knows.
