Aluminum Instrument Ring Kit

Does anyone have any experince/opinions about the Eagle Day Aluminum Instrument Ring Kit? It seemed overpriced to me, but I noticed it has gone on sale. I would be installing it on my 2000 with white gauge faces.

Is there a better or less expensive alternative that won't look cheap?

I have installed them successfully.

You MUST remove your cluster to do it right or bad things happen like superglue on your plastic faces, etc. If you try to do it with the cluster in the dash it will be a mess that can't be reversed.

Basically, you take thick superglue and put a thin bead around the inside of the trim ring or brush it on and then lift it straight up and into place on the inverted gauge cluster. The dials are pointed down to the table on which you are working.

I placed the rings on recently on my2000. It makes a big difference on the appearance of the cluster...definitely better. I agree they are expensive and I couldn't find an alternative. I got mine at NRauto.com. Make sure you are careful with the superglue. I used as little as necessary when putting the rings on, just a drop in each of the 4 compass positions (n, s, e, w). That is plenty. I left the cluster on and did pretty well. Just be careful because the superglue will ruin the clear plastic on the guages. One more thing...dry fit the rings several times. It isn't as intuitive as one would think on how they fit. At least on mine, there wasn't any labeling that said top/bottom.
