Parked for a while....water pump, But I have a question
I am at 80K miles, the water pump has a squeak...so time for a replacement. I have a genuine OEM pump and belt on hand along with a low temp thermostat....now to find the time;
Now to the question, Have most of you replaced the Tensioner/ Idler Pulleys when you do this ?? Thanks in Advance Dwight |
At 80k you could just replace them for peace of mind while you have it apart.
Might just save you a breakdown later on. |
I didn't at WP/Thermo maintenance replacement around 85k.
BUT around 90k I replaced all pulleys as one started squealing/grinding |
Do a coolant flush too, at the same time. You need about 3 gallons of Porsche coolant and 3 gallons of distilled water.

When I replaced my alternator, I took the tensioner apart and greased the bearing. It needed it!
The grease seal can be removed if you carefully use a dental pick or something similar to pry it out of the bearing. |
