Broken pushrod cable..

My pushrod cable for my top broke on the passenger side , will the top still operate properly since its broke? Got it to close. Just curious

The worst Boxster I bought was like that when I got it.
If the clamshell is still fully connected, it should still operate. Do it slowly in steps while you watch, reach up and assist the side that is broken to keep the movement even.

Replace this instead of the whole cable.

That some good advice. If you let one do all the work, it will eventually fail.

Yes, if you do it like that for long term, it may cause damage to other parts. Get the top closed, then get it fixed.
I recommend replacing the rod ends on both side when you replace the broken one. The 'good' one is probably about to meet the same fate.

There are no cables in the convertible top linkage. It would probably help if you posted a picture.

There are cables that act a tensioners, and they can wear out.

There's only 2 cables involved in the top :

* 98656171703 : 'Pliable Shaft / Cable for Cabrio hood.' ... one each side, run between the motor at the back and the transmission on the side. If these are broken or come loose your top (and clamshell) won't operate properly.

* 98656119102 : 'Cabriolet Hood Tension Rope.' ... one each side, connects from the rear hood bow to the body, helps hold tension the rear of the hood. If these are broken or not attached it won't really effect the hood operation, but the hood may look saggy at the rear, or knock over bumps.
