Question Boxster Roof

Hi,

Recently purchased my first Porsche ('97 Boxster, 62k miles). The car is not quite everything I thought it was when I viewed it. However, I am going to stick with it and fix whats wrong. This week, I put a new rear window in it, and it looks better already!!

Next problem:

All too often, when I close the roof, the electric windows will not come up. Eventually, a series of opening and closing the roof will mean that the windows can come up. My guess is that this is some kind of sensor issue, but where do I start looking?

Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions (thankfully, there are many here far more knowledgable and will likely have input for you)-- just a comment. Was in Dublin for a few days last week -- sorry to see that Mayo topped Dublin in the GAA.

Ian,
It's probably the micro-switch in the center recess where the top release lever locks.
When it happens again, unlatch the top and push the switch in with your finger and see if the windows operate.
Do a search on the Forum for additional help. This seems to be a common topic. My windows used to go down if I accidently hit a big pothole. Some tape fixed the problem.

Regards,

derb

Thanks Derb and CFOS. I will go and have a look for that switch at soonest opportunity. Sounds like a likely cause of the problem.
Hope you enjoyed Dublin CFOS, not a GAA fan myself - much prefer rugby.

Ian

My wife and I loved Dublin and hope to return again. I did watch a little rugby, and tried to watch cricket (at the time, the Pakistani team wasn't.... "cooperating"), but was really taken with the GAA which seemed to move a lot faster.

Hope your window issues clear up and you get to enjoy your boxster!
