Gear shift handle 5 vs 6 speed
 
I was looking over the PET and saw that the 5 speed and 6 speed gear shifters are different, but looking at pictures of the two, and a 6-speed in hand, I can't see what the difference is. I know that reverse is opposed between the two shift patterns, but the mechanisms look the same.
How are they different?
Can they be interchanged?

I always thought they were the same. I've sold shifters that came out of a 5 speed to someone who needed it for a 6 speed and vice versa. No one has ever had a problem

Thanks Woody. Looking at them, that makes sense. I guess that the differences are minor changes (improvements?) to the bracket and the length of the throw.
