Recline function not working after having seats recovered
Took my seats out and had recovered. The upholsterer must have lost the springs on driver's side, and the passenger side reclines but wont go forward. Does anyone have pics of the seat switches pulled out so I can see how to reassemble correctly? Since he messed up both sides, I have nothing to reference.

This link has some information
I'm assuming that you have the base "two-way" seat where only the seat back is power operated.
The recline control can be easily pried off with a screw driver. If your upholster didn't lose it, there is a small spring beneath the switch that gives it some tension. So if you remove the switch, watch for the spring. Once you have pried off the switch, you will see to white "nipples." These control the recline motor. Pushing on one moves the seat back forward. The other moves it back. If the micro switches are working, it may just be a matter of aligning the large black switch over them properly. If that doesn't help, you may want to check the wiring. This link provides some good pictures of the inner-workings of the seat. http://986forum.com/forums/diy-project-guides/50255-boxster-seat-disassembly-procedure-part-1-2-a.html You will note that the seat recline switch didn't need to be removed to reupholster the seat. Good luck. |
