Quick coolant top off question

Replaced the WP and thermostat today... That was fun.:ah: Went through the fill/bleed process and all seemed good. Let the car cool and figured I would need to top off a bit. Which I do. Question is, is the "MAX" mark a "hot" mark, or is it ok to top it off to "MAX" cold? Can't seem to find any good answer one way or the other. Thanks!

The manual doesn't say directly, but it does caution against removing the cap while hot and the steps say 'Switch off engine and let it cool', then remove cap and fill but 'do not exceed max line', so I assume it's a cold max.

Mine is midway between the two marks when cold.
I’ve not ever had a problem with the car spewing coolant.

Last Summer when Ambient temps hit 40 Celsius I had some issues with coolant overflowing until it dropped down below the max a little. Had me in panic mode.

Same here. My W124's tank is marked for Cold/Hot (auf Deutsch, natürlich) and I keep it on cold (min).

Yeah, my Jeep is the same way, and prior to the WP it always sat about midway as well. Good deal!
