My Camshaft Deviation Numbers
Camshaft Deviation #1: -7.02
Camshaft Deviation #2: -8.36 Read from a Durametric with the car at proper temperature (driven for 20 min+ prior). Car is a 2000S, running fine with no codes. Based on what I have read from searching the variocam pads need replaced. My question is can I expect to see the deviation come down within spec of +/-6 with just the pad change or could there be other things at play here? |
How many miles on the motor? And do you know if the IMSB is the original?

Worn variocam chain rails
|
Replace both the variocam wear pads and the 4th and 5th timing chains. I had a 2000S with cam deviations of 7.xx and 5.xx. The wear pads were extremely worn on both banks. The cam deviations are now in the 2's.

Pad change: parts don't cost much, but it's labour intensive. You can DIY if you are brave. I did mine when one was at 8 or nine. You need the cam lock tools ( I made mine). |
