Saying goodbye to my 986

Well its time to move on as I have sold my 986. I have to say I was actually having second thoughts as I was agreeing to sell it to the new owner and take his deposit :-(

Its actually been fun owning my 2000 986 S, and as much as I've done to the old girl I think the new owner will be very happy. Every single item on the checklist from coolant tank, IMS, Clutch, Flywheel, bearings, tensioners, engine mounts, exhaust, brakes etc has all been replaced. The owner will be taking it for a quick inspection prior to the final sale but after that she will be gone. Hopefully the new owner will treat it with respect and take good care of it. For now I will be without a summer car but I'm actively looking for a newer 981 (2013) in preferably white :-)

I will continue to hang out here though

Cheers

Heiko

i really like that color, and i'm sure once you are in the 981 your wounds will heal quickly ; )

as always, please give us a nice comparison on the 981 vs. the 986 once you have ample seat time. I know it has been discussed many times but a new perspective is always interesting to read.

Congrats on your sale and I think the 981's look great. I'd consider the same and may once I get the rest of my boys out of college....

Congrats on the sale, Heiko. And good luck in your search for a 981.

But, I guarantee that you will miss the old 986. I sure did. I sold mine in under 24 hours; if I had the extra garage space I never would have sold her.

The 987 and 981 models are quicker and more refined, but there's nothing quite like flogging a 986 around country roads.

Just sayin'........

Thanks for the link - it looks great :-) and even in red - but somehow I really liked the white one I saw a few weeks ago so I will keep searching for a white one :-)
Been seeing a few brown ones and quite a few in silver and grey but nothing in white yet.
I'm not in a great rush so if it takes a few months to find one, so be it :-)
Cheers
Heiko

The sale was fast for me as well; the guy that bought it has a BMW Z3 and has always loved the boxster and obviously loved mine. I know I will miss it when its gone but like yourself I only have so much room in the garage and I'm not storing it outside :-)

Good luck in your search! I think about a 981 as well but I’m still happy with my 986. I know if a take a drive in a 981 it would be over though. I’ll wait for the prices to come down a bit more :)

good luck, HEIKO:cheers:

986...it's like the VW BEETLE. The new ones are definitely better, bigger you name it...but the old bug puts the biggest smile in your face.
I am not interested in HP in the first place anymore...as there are no limits with the Turbos in every little new car. I really start to enjoy the limits of my 2.7l....:D

Personally I like the latest spyder or maybe the GT4, let's see how the new ones turn out.

Well the old girl will be picked up on Thursday. Last part of the pending point in the sale was the PPI at the dealer which was scheduled today. Dropped it off at 10am at 'Porsche of Oakville' and the old girl got a clean bill of health and a safety certificate issued by the Porsche Dealer and we left there at 330PM - I cant believe the PPI took 5hrs but I guess its pretty in depth! I was glad to see they only had good things to say and I think the buyer was a very happy person too :-) Now the search for the 981 can begin :-)

Sorry to hear of the sale but glad that you're searching for your next Porsche!

I will remain standing for one moment of silence followed by wishing you good luck on your new search!
