I was wondering if anyone knew where I can get some quality replacement seats for my 98' 986 in boxster red. I seem to have the worst luck when looking for them.

Also, can anyone direct me to a cheap 986 manual? Those guys selling them on Ebay must be crazy if they think I'll be paying THAT much for one.

The Bentley manual is, by far, the best repair manual available. About $100 through our host, who also has the 101 projects as well.

Woody (itsnotanova) might have, or have a lead on, a set of seats.

A list of wrecking yards and even upholstery suppliers if here.

These guys are local for you. Shipping will be steep, for a pair of seats.

Are your seats broken or just in need of reupholstering? There are a couple of companies that specialize in DIY seat cover sets. I can't find the one I am thinking of just now. Reasonable pricing and the pictures I have seen have been decent results.

Once in awhile you will find a Bentley’s used on EBay, or check the PCA classifieds. It’s not cheap, but excellent in every way. The 101 book is a great book too. Together IMO, they make the “whole”.

You'll also want to grab a copy of the 101 Boxster Projects book. Best (and least expensive) place to order that one is on the Pelican website.

It's crazy what some people are selling these books for (and USED) on ebay...

I have both books. I would say the Bentley is a must have and the 101 is a nice addendum, if you can swing it $$. A portion of the 101 book is available via Pelican's tech articles on their website.
