How many threads have you started in how many different places on this topic?
This is bananas. You should really consolidate into one thread for future users to reference. :)

Actually, I only posted it in the discussions sections and updated it in the existing DIY thread. So one new thread and one update.

Thanks for all your hard work!

Maybe a written summary of before and after (hardware and software) would be good....including dyno parameters.

I would have anticipated something like a 10hp change....what is your current number max torque and power numbers? I am sure a dyno change could eat a 10 hp change quite easily.

NewArt 04-04-2018 11:56 AM

Dyno change and MAYBE fuel change. In this run I was using Shell v-power 91. I may have been using Petro-Can 94 (up to 10% ethanol) in the previous base runs. So many things to consider!

Nice videos and nice work! I just watched all 4. It was also nice to see the Mt. Tremblant video, I drove there last year in the Northeast Region's HPDE and am going again with them this July.

PS, do you have headers or stock exhaust manifolds? I see you switched to cat bypass pipes but didn't get a chance to watch that video yet.

Enjoyed video, too bad you couldnt have the second dyno on the same machine. You mentioned petrol type but could the weather have affected the readings as well?

I like you exhaust tone not only butt dyon positive, the exhaust sound beefier to me.

NewArt 04-04-2018 02:38 PM

Paule, just stock exhaust save for the secondary cat deletes.
Cunningr, I don’t think that the weather played a role, cool & dry both days. I feel fairly sure that the fuel and dyno change had a lot to do with it. I may well get a new reading when my first tech gets his machine back up and running. I can be pretty obsessive.

Looking at pictures of stock 986 S exhaust manifolds, I would think a decent set of headers would give you a nice HP gain, from both the freer flowing exhaust and the scavenging effect, especially since you've already helped the intake side. But if you need cats they are pricey!

Yes, I have considered this and it is quite tempting, but man, it’s easy to throw money at these toys! There’s also the noise factor. I do like to take this car on the occasional road trip.

Every time I post a new HPDE thread I always wonder if I should start a single thread like thstone and his spec boxster thread and post all my updates there. Then I read that thread (and the jumping into SPB thread) and feel that I'm not worthy...

Great job on the videos! I know how much work they are to make...

Thanks Steve. The way I see it, the discussions section is like a post-it board: “Hey, look what’s going on here”, whereas the DIY section seems more permanent and I should update a single thread à la thstone. I sometimes forget to be methodical in my exuberance!
