boxster and boxster s quarter mile
 

well im selling my 99 to get a 00-02 S.AND I was looking at some stats and i saw the quarter mile of the 99 and the quarter mile of the S ARE VERY CLOSE is this true 50+hp only helps that much can i even feel the diffrence when i get my S

1997 Porsche Boxster 6.0 14.5
2001 Porsche Boxster S 5.6 14.0

A 1/2 second in the quarter mile translates to around 73' at 100 MPH (just picking a nice round number - I don't know the speed for either vehicle at a quarter mile). In other words - that wouldn't be close - it'd be a freaking spanking....

Thats more than 5 car lengths. Not even close and most likely pulling away.

60 mph is 88' sec. do the math.

What you might want to do is find a chart showing the 0 - 120 or 0 - 140 times in seconds and the difference may be huge.

As importantly, when just tooling around town, the great torque of the S is very evident and very appreciated.

It simply is a more satisfying car to drive (to me).

Quarter-mile times are not the correct metric for measuring the differences between the standard and S models. As mentioned, the increase in low-end torque is what most people appreciate between the two...
