Anyone have pics of replacing the flexible part of the oil fill tube?
In removing my AOS on my 2001 Boxter, I cracked the flexible part of the oil fill tube. how do you access the clamp that holds it to the fill tube in the trunk?

Here's an action shot https://i.imgur.com/NfaAH7g.png If you have a secondary air pump, you will need to remove it - I'm not sure how easy that is, as my car didn't have one http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1432228001.jpg Getting the new hose on was also quite challenging - I used a good quality pair of locking flexible hose clamp pliers to hold the spring clamps open while I located each end, then released. You need to take a lot of care doing this, as the fill tube on the engine side is ridiculously fragile, and will break if you put too much force on it (I broke mine) |
You could remove the engine wiring harness plug to gain access:

Thanks! Great info!

When I replaced my coolant reservoir, I was able to get the clamp by pulling back on the bulkhead pipe manifold and using one of those cable hose clamps. I replaced the rubber hoses as well, and used regular hose clamps on the engine side. (makes it easier to undo the reservoir hoses if they ever need it again.) |
