Radio Replacement, radio code?

I have watched videos on how to upgrade your radio to a newer model with bluetooth and hands free calling. Looks pretty easy. What becomes of the radio code when say you upgrade to a Pioneer stereo radio?

It goes away as it is unique to the Becker unit originally installed. Save it in case you sell the original Becker.
