Speaker Install: Under Passenger Seat

Has anyone installed a subwoofer or another kind speaker in the well under the passenger seat?

If so, any advice on make/model or any installation issues would be appreciated.

The wells not very deep for a decent sub? have just put my sat nav unit in there

The depth is too shallow and won't be enough to fit a decent sub. There's a flat sub that may fit (Kenwood KSC-SW1), but it's quite mediocre.

I mounted that Kenwood sub behind the passenger seat. Fits pretty well, as long as you don't have really tall passengers. The sound isn't bad, best thing I found for cars with limited space.

toddhata,

Can you take a couple more pictures, and let me know how you installed it? Where you tapped into the wiring?

That's cool. I like how it's out of the way. Do you have a model number for us? Where did you get it from?

If you guys want bass in your car, do it the right way and get a real sub installed properly. The flat piston subs are horrendously expensive and do not sound good anyway. As for the self-contained-put-it-anywhere type sub, I have yet to see anything like that that sounds decent. Its the equivalent of expecting good sound out of computer speakers.

Just my $.02....

Hey! My computer speakers at home sound pretty damn good!! :D

No, really, they do. I use my PC as a stereo at home... but it helps having WinAmp with a good EQ. And a speaker set with a decent sub.
