And regarding your comments, hopefully Jake will be able to sort out this issue and keep his car.

Wife or girlfriend does make a difference. His girlfriend doesn't own half the car. ;)

I don't know the young man, but if it were one of my sons I'd be encouraging him to cover it and wait it out.

Sorry to hear Jake... While owning a Boxster it's always good to have a beater.. If you can, set it aside for summer and drive a reliable honda or Toyota. Drop a new engine in youngling.. If you can't oh well... get another later... I'm sure you will miss that ride though... Nice car.. Good luck

Hi Jake. Always enjoyed your posts so sorry to hear about your issues. I'm pretty much in the same situation but with a Saab Viggen with oil pressure issues. I'm professionally and personally too busy to diagnose and fix the problem, so that means spending thousands on a car that is worth about the same. I really love that Viggen and I hoped that I could take it into retirement but I really cannot justify the aggravation and spending that amount of money. So, it's up for sale and I now spending the same kind of money on another, newer car.
Don't think you can have your car sitting under a tarp and fix it later when you have more time. Cars have to be driven otherwise they just rot away. There are ways to mothball cars, but you don't want to go there. Be fair to the Boxster and yourself and sell it if you cannot fix it right now.
A couple of years from now, when you have more time and money, there will still be plenty of affordable Boxsters for sale. You'll be back! Take care.
