Tire Time

I currently have Pirelli P-Zero Rossas with about 1/3 tread life remaining. The bad news is the right rear tire hit a pot hole and developed a 'bubble' in the sidewall. My options are:

A: Replace that one Pirelli for ~$250
B: Replace all 4 with Michelin Pilot Sport for ~$850
C: Replace all 4 with Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Position for ~$620
D: Something else entirely

(The RE050A replaced the now-discontinued S-02 / S-03 line)

The Michelins are Porsche OE, but they are more expensive. I have another car that I drive back and forth to work in, so my Boxster is just for 'fun' driving (and no snow), with the occasional DE event thrown in.

Suggestions?

A similar discussion already going on in this thread Porsche Spec Tires. I am probably going to order the S03's from tire rack, less than $500 delivered to my door (not including mounting and balancing, a little less than $100 I figure).

Good luck getting the S03's. That's what I tried first, but they are all out of stock. I called them up and they don't plan on getting any more in ever. The rep suggested I get the RE050A's since they are supposed to have the same performance characteristics.

Sorry, I am looking at the 17"s, the website still shows they have limited stock of those. Guess I should stop being indecisive and just order them before it's too late.

I'm due for tire change as well and seriously taking a look at the Yokohama Advans.

I have 17's as well. The web site showed them as in stock, but when I went to actually order them, it wouldn't go through. A call to the 800 number indicated they are out of stock and the web site hasn't been updated.

I'm close to new tires too. I'm looking at Kuhmo Ecsta ASX. Haven' t talked to anyone who doesn't like them. They're inexpensive, have a long racing heritage, and the tread life should exceed 20K. What could be bad?

I just got the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Position's installed. So far I love them! I can definately tell the difference between them and my old Pirelli's just riding around town today. I have a DE event Sept 3 so we'll see how they handle.
