LED high beams?

Hey Guys,

Has anyone tried these LED H-7's? Seems to be pretty good reviews..... Thinking of trying them in my '98 as high beams......I live in Bucks County PA..... Which is aptly named..... The deer are brutal this time of year..... So any advantage I can get....

Those would be fake Philips.

These are genuine Philips

Has anyone successfully put these bulbs (either of the ones mentioned here) in their car?

These won't fit in our lights will they? At least not without some modding?

It would be a gamble. There isn't much room back there.

They will fit in the lights high and low beam sockets but you won't be able to close the door which seals the light housing .This is because the fan on the leds protrudes too far .I wonder if its ok to leave this door off altogether which would leave the light housing unsealed .I have been running these leds in my Subaru (HB ) for almost a year now and they a just great . $30us pair from ToAuto via Aliexpress .

If you can't close the rear covers, then they don't fit.
If you left the covers off, you'd get dirt, moisture and many other things inside your headlight.

Rats!!! I guess nothing comes easy!

I do hate the orange tinted halogen hi beam bulbs that it came with..... I think I'll give these a try....

I used an LED-type that has metal ribbons/mesh for the heatsink. This allows fitment of the rear cover.

Personally I'd avoid using any bulb that has a COB (chip-on-board) or "large" LED blob. I stuck with LEDs that are just about in the same size, shape, and placement as the halogen filament would be. I tried the COB and blob types on my Subaru, and the small-chip type works far better (high-beams and foglights).

Do you recall the name or model number?
Thanks!

I have not used them in my Boxster, but I have LEDs in my 1973 911 and our Saab Aero Wagons. They are terrific.

Highly recommended. eBay has thousands of choices.

Here's what I bought (low and high beams), not available right now though. At least it'll give you an idea of what to look for.

LED headlights

I added LED headlights to mine and they are working great. Very happy with them. It's a bit of a tight fit but the covers do close with no issues. I used them for low beams and high beams. I have the LED's in my Subaru and most of my bikes too. I even recently added LED bulbs to my front and rear trunks.
I own a motorcycle accessory business and H4 and H7 bulbs are popular in bikes. The lights I sell are manufactured by Cree and I've had very good results with them.
The toughest part of the install is getting the wire retainer in place. Cheers. Ernie

Perfect! Thanks, as long as I have an idea of what will physically work, that'll help

I had one headlight go bad last month, it gave me a reason to replace the weak halogens that came stock on the S. I found an led replacement that was recommended by someone here on ebay. No mods, plug and play. Much brighter than the old halogens.

Did these fit in a Boxster headlight assembly.... Where ya able to get the door closed even with the ribbon heat sink?

Thanks!

Yup, I sure did. Beauty of the ribbons is that they can be redirected to where there's more space.

Thank Ya Sir..... There are a bunch of this style for sale on Amazon..... Some Chineasium some name brands (also Chineasium, sigh!) but the prices for these are very reasonable prices.... May have to give a set a try..... But have to polish my lenses first..... I can barely see the road driving to work at 0h-Dark-30!

Thanks!
