Any way to remove ignition cylinder or steering lock without key?

I acquired a 2001 Boxster S with no keys to use for parts. I bought and waited for a service key from Porsche so I could turn on the ignition for testing the electrical and unlocking the steering so I could move the car around. I don't need to start it at this moment. I sadly found that the ignition lock has been replaced in this car already so my new key doesn't work. I doubt I'll ever be able to get the right key for it.

The problem is now that I need to change the ignition I can't get it out. Since I can't turn the key in the ignition I can't disengage the steering lock and in turn it won't come out of the steering column. I disassembled things all the way and I'm down to the point where you would depress the locking pin with a small screwdriver to release it from the column, but it won't depress since it's locked.

Anybody have a clue how to deal with this?

You don't sound like a very good car thief.

Go 'old skool', drill it and use a slide hammer to pull the cylinder?

On a 2001, you should be able to remove a part of the steering column shaft. You won’t be able to use the steering wheel but you’ll be able to manually turn the front wheels. Only takes like five minutes

I ended up busting out the ignition housing around the cylinder. Cylinder came right out after that and I was able to unlock the steering finally
