Dashboard Question (Does it fit???)

Hello all,
First, I just want to say that I'm a kind of new member and I can't thank everyone on this board enough!!! The 986forum has been invaluable since I discovered it... I have a few Boxsters and a 996 911, now I know so much more about this GREAT platform.
My question today is this, Can a 996 dash fit into a 986???
I have heard yes and no to this question from other sources, so now I'm asking you guys and girls... Any thoughts will be greatly welcomed!!!

Might a look at the PETs for the two models be helpful?

I thought that the windshields had a different curvature and were a bit wider on the 996. I know they are at the top.

Since the front fenders, the front trunk lid and the doors are the same on both cars, I think it's only the upper part of the windshield that's different.

Putting a MY03 or newer dash in a MY02 or earlier car is a different matter, though.

Per PET, the dashboard part numbers start with 996 aside from 2 for differing appearance options (such as the sport package). :)

Dumb question but why do you want to do that? I am a DIY'er and always looking for interesting mods.

Mike, I'm asking because I have a 911 996 parts car with a nice black leather interior. I did the door panel swap already, which gave me the 911 style doors, and now I want to swap it's black dash for my grey one. There isn't a real upgrade in it, just more like a restyle.

98 - 01 Boxster & 996 are identical from the doors forward with the exception of option availability.
