I will be doing an oil change next week and appreciate the heads up on the price at Sunset.
BUT, the Sunset description for #996-107-020-55 lists only the housing and makes no mention of the filter being included?
The Pelican site specifies that for #996-107-020-55-M100 the filter is included with the cover, but their part number ends with that additional -M100.
Can anyone who has actually ordered this part from Sunset and confirm the filter was included? I like to buy from Pelican, but five bucks is five bucks...

Buy it from Sunset; it won’t include a filter, so buy the Wix/NAPA Gold version and get better filtration for less $.

The bypass is in the filter housing, not the filter. This is a problem as the factory bypass is famous for sticking open and 100% bypassing any filtration. The filter for the IMS Solution gives you a new valve with each filter, eliminating this issue.

No matter where you buy it (and especially from any Porsche dealership parts department) the genuine Porsche part number 996-107-020-55 should include a filter.
In fact, I just verified that one of these which I'm currently installing came from Sunset.
The part number printed on the included filter is "996-107-225-53":

This is the part from our great hosts for a spin on filter that requires an adapter
2001 Porsche Boxster S Convertible - Filters & Belts - Page 2
I do not understand, the oil filter is $225 and the adapter is separate ??
I though the spin on adapter allowed you to use a conventional can type oil filter that can be usually had for $20 or less ????

That's a reusable filter cartridge with a stainless steel washable filter (it comes apart).
I use one and have both 25 and 40 micron mesh filters. It came with my LN spin on adapter, otherwise I probably wouldn't have went that route...may still switch to conventional spin on filters, but I've been running it for a couple years or so with no issues.
Another advantage is that mine has a high power magnet built into it.
