Has anyone rebuilt their rear suspension?
I need to replace my right inner cv joint. While I am at it I want to replace the wheel bearings and all 3 types of bar links in the rear suspension. has anyone done this and willing to answer questions? What tools will I need to replace the wheel bearings? I am not going to spend 500 on the sir tool!

I replaced the bearings on the four corners of my CS about one year ago and by thinking about it, just got a back pain.. LOL Since you are removing the driveshafts, you would be able to replace the bearings in site (without removing the hub), I also purchased a fairly complete bearing removing kit from HF for about $100 and it was pretty straight forward job. However, I learned the hard way that the bearings have a magnetic strip on one side only (underneath the seal), this triggers the ABS sensor, remember to install the magnetic side towards the transmission. Good luck! |
I can rent you the SIR tool if you need.

I have the right rear axle out. Now trying to remove the rear hub so I can get to the wheel bearing. I am trying to do this without disassembly of the e-brake assembly. I have rented a hammer gear puller. Since I don't want to remove ebrake I cannot use a bearing splitter. Is there any way to remove the hub that I am missing? Has anyone used the sliding hammer to remove the rear hub?

It seems like a Flinstone technique but actually works However, after doing the rear ones I 'voluntered' my oldest son as my back was acting up, but I used a HF bearing tool kit to get the new bearings into the hub.. Hoping that I don't have to do that job anytime soon :-( |
I wound up Using the HF bearing removal tool and pulled out hub with the sliding hammer as Gilles suggested. Meir, Thanks for the offer but I thought the shipping would be a deal breaker.
