Rear Ended
 

I was pulling onto the street leaving the Publix parking lot and stopped for passing traffic, the woman behind me didn't stop so the result was that she hit me in the rear bumper. Not much damage, no cracked paint, it just pushed the urethane bumper into the sub structure, making an imprint and causing the bumper to deform.

I removed the bumper and used heat gun on the inside to shape the urethane back to its original form. I wish it hadn't happened but I'm happy with my results.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1507924567.jpg

Wow, that really does look great!! I know Florida is a No fault state but I hope you realize some dollars for your time....... :)

No, after I chewed her out about not paying attention while behind the wheel of a machine, and to drive more carefully, I told her that the paint is not cracked and I knew I could fix it, I told her to be on her way. Maybe I should’ve got the thousand dollars for new bumper cover.

I got hit a little harder than that and it was $4200 to put mine back to right. Check the function of your spoiler. It took some work to get mine to go up and down correctly without scraping.

Thanks guys I didn’t see the point in trying to get her money or her insurance companies money. I had read on this forum before that a heat gun will put it back into shape and it turns out that it did. As far as my spoiler function, yes I actually had to put it up to get the rear bumper off and it works fine. Like I said the bump wasn’t even enough to crack the paint so no underlying sub frame issues either.

Looks good, but the bumper may be weakened and not as supportive as was before the impact; I may have gone for a new bumper.

Sorry to hear and see this, girls sometimes... easy for them to lose full attention. Just need a Instagram jpeg in color and voila... bang :/

SImilar happened to someone I know a few months ago... where the girl was drunk and without a drivers license (late Sat night). Claiming being abused in the bar they went and stole BF's spanking new 911 to get away.

Girls's daddy shown up 20min later and paid friend the equivalent of $2500 CASH for a scratch on his Mazda rear bumper. Like yours, he fixed it with a rotary buffing wheel and some heat. Funny stuff....
