Vanity Plates - Choose 1

Ok gang, time to do what we do best... it's time to dish out opinions...

I desire vanity plates... I don't have a clever message to tell everyone behind me, so I figured something that had an interesting aesthetic look would be unique. I came up with these 2 samples/ideas.

#1 This one looked like saw teeth -I don't know why I think that's cool, but it looks sharp (get it?).

#2 The 5 Xs, hopefully it doesn't look porn-ish. I was going for more of the "enter your password" look -but I can't do astricks. It could also be a tribute to the 550 (5 Roman Numeral 10s... or 550. Ok, that's a stretch.)

Blinkwatt, I need you to think within the Box (ha, get it?). Of those 2 options above, which visually looks better.

I think 5 zeros may look too. I'll have to whip that one up in the ol' photoshop.

I kinda like the five zeros idea. The others really escape me, although I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree.

When I got my plates, I thought of the funniest thing I could, and the thing that'd make other people laugh the most so thats how I came to get my plates. If I could pick a second set plate design, I would go with something like BEAT IT, lol. But seriously, be cheesy and get MY BOX, someone has to, why not you.

I've thought "Box-Star" would be kind of neat.

There's a previous thread on this. You should try and find it--there were a lot of good suggestions.

My favorite: BOX ROX

I just thought of this last night, too: BOOMBOX.

And then, here's one that my friends said could warrant some nasty key-ing, but I thought it would have been nice: EATRICE.

Good luck!

I think you guys are missing my point. I don't want a clever message. I want something that just LOOKS different (not says something).

The 5 X's does look pornish... it was the first thing I thought of when I saw it.

Of the two, then, I would go with the V's.

Which reminds me, I have to order mine... either going with "986 Girl" or "2 Boxes" (since I'm female...my friends seem to get a kick out of that one).

Jeph, you're kinda between a rock and a hard place on this one. You had better choose a vanity plate that's not fraught with enuendo considering you work at a church!

How about:

WWW

It looks like the V's, but it's three W's and that's what you do... design stuff for the web.

I almost gaurentee www is taken. Texas is the second largest state, maybe if it was like montana..., but you can check for availibility at the dmv instantly.

I guess I like the XXXXX, although it does seem to have porn connotations.

My favorite was the guy with "NO PLATE" as his plate. If I remember correctly, it somehow messed with the police computer system.

Nice topic.

I had extensive discussions with friends and co-workers about vanity plates, just for fun. the predominating theme was that by getting a porsche, and more specifically by pronouncing it correctly (por-sha), I was a total pompous ass. perfect for a plate, i thought -- pompous ass. unfortunately, when you shorten it up for CA plates (seven spaces) it becomes PMPS ASS which conveys a message i don't want to send!

The V's definitly look better than the X's...Unless you like the porn industry....Then again who doesn't j/k.

I saw a Florida Plate that said "E Ticket" and ive always liked it. Thats what i do, the boxster is an E Ticket Ride....

What if you mixed Zeros and Os? Imagine the officer reporting that plate.

O0O0O
or
0O0O0
and even
0OO0

Actually, I like that last one... It kinda looks like the exhaust and bumperettes.

Randall, I bet the WWW is taken too. The problem with Ws is that on our TX plates, they're weirdly narrow. I thought the Vs were a nice alternative to the pornish Xs. 6 Vs can look like 3 Ws!

When I wanted a 3 Series, I wanted BMWWW on my plates.

Here's another question I must pose. Is having a vanity plate worth sacraficing your anonymity?

For example, if you blow by on the highway and some one sees you're plate, they can much more easily report you (because it's distinctive/easy to remember). OR, even worse, see your car in a parking lot a few weeks later and think "that's that jerk that was speeding [or cut me off, etc.]" and decide to key it.

you cant really mix o' and 0's, when you submit it they all go to 0's I think. or they look exactly the same or somehting. In my opinion, a vanity plate is worth it because it just shows how much more bad a$$ you are than the boxster with hjr 361 or somehting like that.

I happen to have a vanity plate and based on my experiences probably would not do it over again. For me, it was part of the pre-delivery experience and a way to build anticipation for that first drive. Once on the car experiences have varied.

Often I get good comments and thumbs up on the plate (esp. at PCA events), but I've had some really trying moments as well. For instance, the early twenty-something girl passenger behind me one day in stop and go traffic that hung out the window & kept screeching my plate wording at the top of her lungs for a full frickin' 10 minutes! I think she must have kept going for a lot longer after our roads diverged, 'cause I kept hearing it in my sleep that night. Then there was the minivan that became the lamprey to my shark in the high speed lane at uncomfortable speeds...
