Door not opening
I have a 2001 Boxster S with 90K KM on it. Recently I changed the locks on both door as one of the door is not opening. After changing the door locks now both door operate normally.
Today, after not driving the car for 6 days, I found that I can't open the doors again. My remote control is not opening door, trunk and frunk. I put the key in the hole and manually turn it but nothing. No sound and window also not lowering. I suspect I might have a dead battery. But I wonder would a dead battery prevent me to open the door manually with the key in the hole and turn? Any suggestion on what is happening? |
You should be able to open the door manually with the key even with a dead battery. Obviously the window won't roll down though.

So, sound like I do have a dead battery. Now the question is how to get into the car or open the frunk. I suppose I have two options one is get a locksmith the other is try the emergency release cable. I think maybe locksmith is the more easy option. Any other suggestion?

It is entirely possible that the mechanical connection from the key to the lock mechanism has broken and would prevent the door from being unlocked.

It was early and my brain wasn't on yet. Yes, there is a mechanical connection, so the key should work with a dead battery (unless the lock cylinder shaft is broken).

I end up using the emergency release to open the frunk and reconnect the battery which in term reset the alarm so that I could use my remote to open the door. Not yet solve the key problem but at least now I can drive the car to the shop to have it check out.
