which qj would you recommend for a 2003 boxster s (986). It looks like the 7000slx will just fit under with enough clearance. Just not sure if there are any other considerations that would make the 5000slx better for this car...

Your only real difference is the capacity. If you want to be able to lift something more than 5,000lbs in the future, then go with the BL-7000SLX as its capacity is 7,000lbs. If not, then just stick with the BL-5000SLX. Here are some more stats that may be useful to you:

Could I use manual transmission fluid SAE 75W-90 in the QJ, or do I have to use ATF?

Unfortunately, it has to be hydraulic fluid (ATF).
