to address or not to address? shifter linkage
This rubber "washer" fell apart from years of use and grime. Car shifts perfectly normal.
Wondering if I should do anything about it or not? https://www.dropbox.com/s/qf6j0z771eee7ra/IMG_6802_zpssp3eivkm.JPG?dl=0 Say I can make a piece like that out of some rubber.. is it possible to put it into place without taking the shifter linkage apart? looks like it's mostly riveted so I can't just unbolt that one piece apart and slide the rubber washer on it. Thanks in advance, Cristian |
I think that washer might be 986-424-133-00 .
Looks like you have a motor oil, or transmission fluid leak. That stuff is hard on rubber when you let it baste and marinade in the oil for a long time - the rubber will degrade, swell, and you will have more rubber parts fail. |

there was some tranny oil that I cleaned up so I can see where the leak is coming from. leak is minimal, oil level didnt change in months. I think it might be spilling a bit around the seal where the shaft goes into the tranny. I bought that seal but have to figure out if that's where the leak is coming from first. |
