Is it wrong to be jealous of other guys knobs? Mine looks pretty boring compared to the ones on this thread

What constitutes this thinner one as apposed to what's in my car? The girlfriends box has this one but for the 5 speed and for shifts away from me it has a better feel. Yet I prefer the one in my car for shifts towards.

Your GF's is the standard knob provided with the car, and is made of plastic with aluminum look paint and leatherette Your knob is real aluminum and leather, and is an extra cost option. Your knob is heavier, and thus, some say, it will give you more solid, direct shifts. I have had the real aluminum knob in my car before, but found that I didn't actually like it cause it got very hot in the summer if I parked in the sun, and I actually can shift faster with the standard, lighter knob. Thus, I put on the 987 standard knob cause I like the ball shape, and am happy with it.

I got mine with the blue LED's, to match my all blue interior lighting. (Thanks Particlewave).

a rare Porsche Tequipment 5-speed knob...was a nice eBay find, brand new but with a flawed TOP seal (where the humidity shows atm, need to get that fixed from a specialist)
.... it came with a green leather boot, tried dyeing it... did not work at all...used the leather boot from one of those knobs with illuminated shift pattern.
kinda goes nicely with the console now, just need to matte it down a little more

Well - I hate to show you guys up, but I think I have the most unique knob (on my Boxster) of any of us. :D This is on my base 2000. The car came to me with the 8 ball shifter mounter on an aftermarket short shift kit. I'll eventually put a standard assembly back in the car and I already have a Tequipment Carbon fiber knob waiting to install. Surprisingly, the 8 ball wasn't that hard to get comfortable with.

Fortunately, the rest of my Boxsters are more traditionally equipped.

Now THAT is cool, way cool.

Daily driver cool, with an old school patina to match.

I'm serious when I say "Catch you at the DQ".

Just sayin'.............
