Installing White Face Gauges
Hey guys,
I'm getting around to making some changes to my 05 'box, I'll post some pics finally when I'm done. Does anyone here have experience changing the face gauges from the base black to the S white face gauges. Any ideas where I might find some instructions. Here's a list of what I'm having done: white face instrument gauges clear side markers (no more amber) schnell short shifter kit Boxster S shifter with the aluminum top only mod left will be 19 inch carerra classics...a bit away from those... |

RandallNeighbor did the change in his Box. You may want to PM him for some info.

If you want to pick it up the gauges, check with Epic Todd, he tracked them down for me along with the short shifter and boxster s shift unit....he's really responsive and great to work with...... |

alright epic, let me pay of this shipment first....talk to the wife...pull some weeds, and get back to you on the pedals.... |
Seriously, Todd is awesome. Sorry to be off topic but EPIQ is going to be a very good friend to us boxster owners, and im saying that because EPIQ seems to be on the road to carrying every single thing a boxster would need (they've got so much stuff now its hard to believe they just opened, just imagine in another couple years). BTW thanks again on my order Todd.

so epiqtodd, how much is it going to cost? :)

Aw shucks....
:o wt888, the 987S gauge faces run $249 - a healthy profit margin for Porsche, as is typical. They say that if you build a car out of the parts you pay twice as much for the car, but with a Porsche, I bet it is 5 times as much... super66 - don't forget before and after photos of your project, and contact me about putting in that Schnell shifter as there are some tricky parts on the 987 install. |
$249 is a very good price for gauge faces, typically they run about $299.
If you need help removing the cluster, here is a write up we did. Haven't installed any faces lately, but as soon as I do, I will make a write up for that. http://www.turbo911.com/showthread.php?t=288 |
yes i'm in. i'd like to also do the white faces on my boxster. just don't know how to install them.

Epic Hires a new rep?
Hey Epic should hire me huh....that's two peeps for white faces.....I smell referal bonus todd.....aluminum pedals on the house....hey what's with the rough reviews on the short shift kit in the swift shift kit post? I'm getting a bit nervous since I'm switching over....I'll keep you guys posted on how it goes.....

Super, I am not sure if the process of gauge swapping is the same for the 987 and the 986. I did the 986.
If so, It's about 45 minutes' worth of work if you get it right the needles back in the right place the very first shot... which probably ain't gonna happen. Putting those needles back in the exact position they came out is doable, but I can't see anyone getting it right on the first try unless you've done it a dozen times and done it recently. So, get ready to have your patience tested. But, it's not a hard mod to do overall. |
