Hi All:

I'm thinking of lowering my 2000 Boxster S.

I'm not sure what lowering springs to use.

Can the members on this board give me recommendations?

And perhaps their pros/cons?

damn a 00s sport is low already. I would just go down to the auto part store and buy lowering/lifting kit. the clamps/brackets go for about 25 bucks to see if you like the look. they lower if you tighten one way and raise if you do it the other. they clamp around your spring and will lower it the space of one coil.

I don't know where you live but my 2000 Boxster S in NY is already too low for our horrible roads! :(

If you are looking for something alittle more expensive, techart has lowering springs for the box that cost $350 in tweeks, perhaps less at other venders. The car will be approx 1" lower so its not overly dramatic, but it will slightly improve handling and make the car look more aggressive. I have a 03 box s and I'm thinking of going for the springs. I'm afraid of the ride suffering some though. I don't want to get too beat up.

I checked tweeks and sure enough only 350 bones.

Anyone have any pics with them on a box with 18"?

it is a cool site. you can see what your car would look like with different size/style rims and raised or lowered by 3-4 inches. It's kinda funny when you put 14 inch rims and raise it 4 inches. LOL.

I do have a question. How hard is it to replace the springs. I would assume you would need a clamp of some sort and have to take the wheels off. Is this something that could be done in the driveway or does it need to be on a lift? Do the brakes have to be bleed etc.

Hi, I'm new here. No Boxster yet, but on my agenda. I have
lowered 2 iterations of VWs (GTI and Turbo NB). A lift helps immensely, as well as air tools. A spring compressor is a must
for the struts, unless you wish to risk bodily injury or death.
You do not need to do anything to your brakes, save supporting
the axles once the shocks are off (to keep from breaking your
barke lines). With a lift and a manual spring compressor it took
me about 2 hours to do my NB. When I did the GTI I had access
to an air powered spring compressor which made the struts cake.
That job too all of 45 minutes. Hope this helps.
