Another Litronics Question: Xenon projectors not working

2 Attachment(s)
2001 986 Boxster Base.

Halogens have just been replaced with factory Litronics.

Upon turning on the switch for the first time, both lights work for dim and bright but only with the bulbs below the xenon projector lens. Turn Signals work as well. Pulled out on switch to turn on fog lamps and still nothing from the Xenon projector.

No flickering. Headlights seem seated firm.

Pulled the bulbs and they look fine.

Fuses checked and everything looks ok. Relays?

I suspect im missing something simple.

High beams on in Left photo....................Low beams on in Right photo

There are a few potential problems:
1. The ballasts (large metal boxes on the back of the headlights) have gone bad or are not firmly seated in the connector at the back of the headlight. (You might try confirming that they are seated well.)
2. The headlight switch is bad
3. The ignition switch is bad
4. Some of the internal wiring is defective

I think the place I would start is to ask the person that sold them to you if he was experiencing problems with the lights prior to selling them. If he says they worked fine, that would increase the probability that the problem is in your headlight or ignition switches.

Here's a link to a thread that I started when I was rehabilitating some worn litronics: http://986forum.com/forums/general-discussions/54697-advice-used-litronics.html

I had issues with a ballast and some wiring.

Search on: "litronic" and "headlight switch" and you should find posts about that problem.

Good luck.

looks like your pin-out needs corrected. Can't tell from pix b/c they show up on top of each other but...

The picture w/ two lights on (I think you are calling low beams) is actually the fog light and what appears to be 'city light'.

In any event, based on appearance of pix, all lights showing in both pix are halogen - no xenon/litronic lights are visible.

Good luck :)

Did you seat connect both connectors (not just the one on the tray)?
