There is a big ass plate blocking the drain plug! At least on my 2000 S at the bottom center of the tranny. No matter how much you read online how to DIY that was one detail NOBODY mentioned! So I'm sharing that minor detail here. You can remove it or drill a hole through it....

Sometimes when you remove it you'll need an alignment. Not if it fits right back on.

You would never believe how much metal is stuck to the big magnet in the bottom. I had mine apart to fix the shift lever leak.
