Shifter cables

Does anyone know if the shifter cables are the same in a 2006 Cayman as a Boxster S 2004?
I've got a deal on a set to replace my very stiff ones.

And now I've exacerbated the problem by installing a short shift kit!

Re original question: I guess they're not. Question #2: Are 5 speed and 6 speed cables the same?

A short shift kit should have no effect on the cables

If a cable is stiff, it takes more force with a short shifter. Basic science, the short shifter changes the fulcrum point.

I'm sure the 5 and 6 speed cables have different part numbers.

No 6 speed cables on eBay right now. Not that I'm cheap but, just having done my IMS pro bearing as well as my rear shocks and motor mount, now my front shocks need replacing, I think I will let my arm get stronger for a bit. Hard to keep up with all the repairs and upgrades. Maybe I'll revert back to my stock shifter ( or a 987 shifter) in the interim!

Check with Woody

I purchased a pristine set of 6S cables from him 2 years ago...always a great price and good stuff from Woody.

You're right. I haven't checked with him yet. What was your experience with the cable replacement? i.e. Did it improve your shifter feel?

Well , hard to say

the end of one of my cables came off leaving me in first gear....and I had a short shifter installed. That being said mine were silky smooth with no drag whatsoever
