Rear trunk light on dash

Hey guys just picked up a 2000 boxster and the rear trunk light on the cluster stays on even when the trunk is closed. Is there a fuse for that, i dont see it labeled anywhere? Thanks guys!

Could be a microswitch in the latch. Can use your phone to see if the trunk light is going off inside when you close it.

Does the light go out when you start driving? It is probably the spoiler warning light. There is no separate indicator for just the rear lid.

Do you also have the rear trunk warning light illuminated on the trunk operating button on the Drivers door sill ?

I will have to check on this

78F350 is correct. You don't have a rear trunk lid warning light. You are likely seeing the spoiler light.

Ahh ok so it doesnt go out while driving, what could be the problem? Is there a fuse for that to check?

Most likely a position limit switch. Try operating the spoiler using the switch on the fuse panel and verify that it goes all the way up and down.

I had this same thing on my 2000 I bought last Aug. Check the fuse panel, mine was blown. I replaced the fuse and it worked properly. After a few weeks I started hearing grinding from the spoiler when I raised or lowered it. I sprayed some white lithium grease on both piston arms and raised and lowered several times. Each time I moved the spoiler the grinding lessened until it finally went away. It has worked fine ever since.

The driver's window was sounding similar so I sprayed some WD-40 on the tracks and it quieted down and raises and lowers smoothly. After that I tried to hit all the hinges I could find with white lithium as preventive maintenance.
