Plastidip Meets Wheels
|
Neat!
Gives a different look, for sure. Try the mirrors and windshield frame too. :D But seriously, is that stuff difficult to work with? I've been on the fence about doing the wheels on my Arctic Silver car a darker Anthracite colour to mimic the 550SE wheels. |
The stuff is great...peels right off. Try dipyourcar they have kits....videos...etc
|
"groovy baby groovy" :D
|
Black wheels goes well with the yellow. Nice job.
Oops! Didn't look close enough. Thought it was black. Lol. Interesting. :D |
I personally think black would have looked better with yellow, but it looks good. :)
What color is that? |
DYC calls it Violet. The wheels are dark anthracite under the dip
|
Looks nice. How many coats per wheel? And how many cans did you use for the set?
|
Plastidip is very user friendly in that it's hard to get runs and dries very quickly. The only caution is to spray many coats like 5/6 to ensure a easy peeling in case you get tired of the color. Thin coats tend to make peeling a real pain. They other minus to Plastidipping is the wheels tend to get dirty quicker from brake dust and debri cause it leaves a rough surface. That said DYC sells a after spray to reduce road/brake dust. It's a great way to see the actual color on a wheel. The wheels look great by the way!

This color was a kit from DYC. 3-4 heavy coats of black base. Metalizer Violet 2-3 coats depending on how Violet you want them and then at least 1 heavy coat of glossifyer (clear). The wheel cleaner works great. Also, the kit comes with a product you put on the sidewall that prevents the plastidip from sticking to the tire so the overspray just peels off.
