M030 springs

Do they sell US spec M030 springs only? I just want to drop the front 10-15mm's

My understanding, which may not be correct, is that US spec M030 springs do not lower the car at all, only the rest of world (ROW) M030 springs lower the car. Both are the same % stiffer than stock though. I think it is because of US bumper height or headlight height requirements.

M030 ROW springs will lower the car slightly US springs are what you have on the car M030 or not

When I rebuilt the F/R suspension on my '01 Boxster, I installed H&R Sport Springs. They lowered my car about 0.75".

Regarding the front height there is normal standard suspension with US M030 10mm lower and row M030 is 20mm lower I believe. rear height is same except row m030 is 10mm lower

I would go H&R springs but they are so inconsistent....you claim .75 inch H&R states 1 inch. I've seen quite a few that have dropped about 1.5 inches. If i were to do both front and rear, it's fine but I don't want to change the current rear height. If I go H&R front's and if it drops 1.5, it'll be too much of a rake.

In the UK at least H&R sell different springs for different amounts of lowering ... for 986 they market both -10mm and -30mm which would tie into your inch figures.

I also installed new Bilstein Sport struts along with the H&R Sport springs during my suspension rebuild.

To clarify, the front dropped about 0.75" and the rear dropped about 0.50". IMHO, it gives the car a very nice rake. I do need to be more aware of curbs, steep driveways, etc.

The documentation that came with the springs claimed a 1" drop, but as I said, my front only came down 0.75". The new Bilstein Sports could have had some impact on the amount of lowering.

I bought a set of US spec M030 springs a couple of weeks back from Suncoast. They didn't have any in stock so they had to have them shipped from Germany. ETA on them is around mid May for mine.

In my case, I had to go with the US spec for stock racing purposes. If it weren't for that, I would have either gone with ROW springs (which they did have at the time) or some other springs that are readily available.

I wonder if the age/wear of the existing springs could be a factor in the amount of drop? I have US M030 suspension but my heights are closer to ROW. I have 131,000 on the springs and maybe 2-3K on the Koni FSD dampers I have fitted. If I were to go with lowering springs I would expect to get less drop than advertised since I am already around 10mm lower, I would have to dig out my measurements to be sure.

That sounds logical, but I'm not an expert. My car had the stock Base suspension when I rebuilt it with the Bilstein's and H&R's. It had 51k miles when I did the rebuild.

My goal was not to lower the car, but to stiffen up the suspension. I accomplished a stiffer. firmer ride and got a little lower stance as a side benefit. :)

Does anyone have Porsche documentation that states a difference between M030 and ROW M030? This difference seems to be more anecdotal that fact.

edc 04-27-2017 04:10 PM

The springs do sag. On my first Boxster it had standard S suspension with 65k ish miles. M030 went on and barely perceptible change in ride height. In fairness I did put the Tip kit on my manual car.

M030 is referred to in there as "sport".
