transmission drain plug madness!!
can someone give me a link to the correct tool to remove the standard transmission drain plug on a 1999? i googled 16mm triple-square anti-tamper socket but all i can find are male versions not female.

Try looking for a 12-point socket. :)
The Pelican how-to shows a male 12-point bit for the plug removal, though. |
There is no female triple square, that would be a 12 point socket. Triple square by definition means 3 quadrangles for 12 points. There are E sockets that are necessary for some things on these cars such as the seats. You can buy all that stuff cheap at Amazon, Harbor Freight has E sockets but not much in triple square.

I believe the drain/fill plug tools required depend on whether you have a 5-speed or 6-speed transmission.
I didn't find this information in your post, signature, or profile. |
