Looks like we're on to something...

An interesting article from Hagerty this week, "Five Concept Cars You Can Own Now". The 986 is included in the list:

The story made sense until the last line... "Snap one up before they appreciate like the 911."

Well, we can hope can't we? Who would have thought 914's would appreciate? Or 912's? Hell, even 924's and 944's are showing appreciation. 928's and 968's certainly are and we all know 964's and 993's are all but unattainable now.

So here is to the 986! May it appreciate in value as much as I appreciate it as a great sports car. Clever, eh?

Makes complete sense to me.

I'll be dead...

....before my Boxster appreciates enough for me to break even.

But I really don't care. I bought her for driving, not investing.

Sure, the best examples of the most desirable and/or limited models have gone stratospheric in price, but there are still very nice drivers cars available at very reasonable prices. You just have to look a bit.

Here is a very presentable 964 cab for $32K. About the price of a new Honda. This is pretty much attainable by almost everyone.

Exactly! Sure I keep it in the garage, sure it's up to date on all its maintenance and will continue to do so, sure I wash it often and detail it as needed, but when I am driving it, this is Porsche and I'm going to have fun....now where is the next S turn?
