Prices can range anywhere from $130 at an independent shop up to $300 at a stealership. You need 9.5 liter of oil,an oil filter and matching crush ring and 1-1.5 hours to do the job. Its simple and fun to do,its just a matter of how much confidence you have in yourself.

he said TRANSMISSION oil. that takes 2.25 qt hypoid gear oil. there is no crush washer. it's a little more in depth than an oil change as the metal pan below the tranny needs to be removed to reach the drain plug. figure about 2.5 hours. not sure about cost.

Do you back the car up ramps or do you need a proper lift?

Most guys just jack it up and put it on jack stands and work on the rear, no big deal.
