Cat Back Exhaust Question

Hi guys - I have been reading forum threads today and now I'd welcome some comments and recommendations please. I want to add some better tone to my 02 2.7L. I don't want a Japenese type sound, I'd like something deeper, more throaty, but not obnoxious. Fapspeed and Agency Power seem to be popular amongst forum members. I also have seen Manzo Stainless Steel Catback Exhaust for under $300 on eBay, much cheaper than the others. I suppose the Manzo could fall into the category of you get what you pay for. So, what are your thoughts please - Catback only please? Thanks!

Remove the snorkel if you've not done that. It will increase the sound level a bit. Look at the Top Speed test pipes after that. Inexpensive first options. If money isn't an issue Fabspeed is a popular option. Beware the drone of aftermarket mufflers!

I went back to a stock muffler and Crios modded it because of the drone my 2 can aftermarket muffler produced.
I have a touch of tinnitus in the right ear, and the drone made driving nearly unbearable.
I was fine with the extra volume, but the droning was the deal breaker.
As mentioned, start with cat delete pipes and the Crios mod. If that's not enough, the move up to a cat back muffler.

We have a 2000 and installed the 2nd cat replacement pipes and the $300 fleabay 2 muffler system. I like the sound and so does my daughter. My darling better 7/8ths thinks it's a bit loud at times but we have driven long distances and it hasn't been a problem.

I have a 2002 Boxster and I started with the Crios mod,,, worth the minimal cost/effort but I needed more. Ended up with the Top Speed cat replacement pipes and the "Brombacher" 986/S Boxster 'Sound version' Muffler (BES 9.86 050 00S Sport) from FVD in Florida. Muffler isn't cheap but great sound and absolutely zero drone.
